Thanks to the Data Intelligence Platform, we’ve already made significant improvements in managing our production processes – with a clear focus on more transparency, flexibility, and predictive planning. Initial use cases were already implemented successfully as part of the proof of concept. At the same time, the platform is flexibly expandable, providing the foundation for our continued journey toward becoming a data-driven factory.
The turnover rate is a key metric for Gerolsteiner, providing insights into how often a bottle is refilled and sold within a year. This information allows Gerolsteiner to accurately plan for bottle requirements. By integrating data from various sources the calculation of this metric is now fully automated within the Data Intelligence Platform.
Gerolsteiner regularly conducts bottle inspections during production. To optimize this process, a tailored application based on CENTERSIGHT scale was developed, allowing for fast and easy documentation as well as subsequent analyses.
How many bottles are returned to the plant? How many are damaged? What is the share of foreign bottles? All of this data is seamlessly and automatically captured and aggregated in the data platform. This allows processes to be analyzed and optimized, ensuring efficient management of empty bottles.
In the Data Intelligence Platform, it can be easily tracked which temperatures and pressures were used during cleaning, as well as the quantities of cleaning agents required. Further analysis in Databricks allows for the identification of cost-saving potentials.
For the technological implementation of the solution, the beverage manufacturer relied on an intelligent combination of Microsoft Azure, SAP Datasphere & SAP Analytics Cloud, Databricks, and the IoT framework CENTERSIGHT scale from Device Insight. In a „Best-of-Breed“ architecture, the various systems were deployed in a way that maximizes their technological strengths while ensuring a cost-effective implementation of the Data Intelligence Platform.
